Oracle Primavera P6 Project Management Professional software makes it easy for you to manage a variety of complex projects. But in order to take full advantage of this project management solution, it’s good to take some time to tailor the interface to your needs.
When working in P6, you may have noticed that when you click an item on the Menu Bar, the associated dropdown menu does not immediately expand to show all of the tools. P6 shows the most recently used tools in the menu first so you can access them quickly.

But what if you need a different tool? You can wait a few seconds until the menu expands, or click the expand button on the bottom of the menu to manually expand it, however, all these extra clicks can add up to a consistent annoyance.
Luckily, there’s a quick and easy way to configure your P6 instance so that all tools in a dropdown are instantly displayed (Figure 2).

- On the Menu Bar, click View
- Select Toolbars near the bottom of the dropdown
- In the expanded Toolbars menu, click Customize
- In the Customize dialogue box, click the Options tab
- Uncheck “Menus show recently used commands first”
- Click the Close button to exit the Customize dialogue box.
You should notice that now the dropdown menus expand fully as soon as you click on them.

This configuration takes only a moment to set up, but it will make your P6 project management solution much easier to use.
