An enhancement to the histogram bars was added in Primavera P6 Professional versions 20 and newer. The resource and activity histogram views can be enabled to have their exact values labeled above the bars. Project managers and schedulers who regularly use the Resource Usage Profile, Activity Usage Profile or the Tracking Windows can now take advantage of the added feature.
Primavera P6 traditionally has limited graphing capabilities, therefore, project managers usually export their project’s resources and costs into an Excel spreadsheet in order to produce graphs. Now, P6 Users will not have to re-create the histogram graphs in MS Excel, because the Primavera P6 histogram bars can be accurately labeled to show the Actual, Remaining and overallocated resource units or costs.
Resource Usage Profile – Steps to activate histogram values.
In the Resource Usage Profile bottom layout, expand the Display Dropdown Menu. Select Resource Usage Profile Options then the Graph tab. Check mark Show Values. Notice in Figure 1 the Actual Units, Overallocated Units and Remaining Units labels are visible above their respective histogram bars.

Activity Usage Profile and Tracking Window
For any of the other windows or profile views in Primavera that use histograms, the Show Values field can be activated the same way. The steps are to click the Display options, select the Graph tab and checkmark Show Values.
Figures 2 and 3 below demonstrate the Activity Usage Profile and Tracking Window with the values labelled above each bar. The labels can be changed from showing the resource units or the cost values in the Data tabs of the display options. The Activity Usage Profile in Figure 2 shows where choose the Cost bars in the Data tab.

Figure 3 is an example of the Tracking Window with the histogram resource unit values shown above the bars.

Conclusion
The ability to show the histogram values for resources and costs is an added value feature that makes the profiles much more useful. The enhanced usability of these graphs saves project managers time since they will not have to re-create these histograms in a different program like excel.
