“There has never a more exciting time to be part of IT and an IT community.” Mark Hurd, CEO of Oracle Corporation, declared.

With another year gone by and the Oracle Partner Kick-off event that was just broadcasted live, you are left with positive leads for the year ahead. Currently, Oracle boasts the broadest selection in the market of software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions. Within the past 8 years, Oracle has acquired and integrated with over 100 companies which speak to their agility in driving excellence through their performance.

Customer satisfaction is also up from last year, as their solutions progressively drive value higher through their integrated platforms. As the industry progresses, Oracle’s new approach is to simplify information technology (IT) and take advantage of the trending concept of Hybrid IT. So what does that mean for you?

What is Hybrid IT?

With cloud computing becoming more and more popular, organizations are approaching to adopt informational technology resources both externally and internally. Large organizations would traditionally build their own IT infrastructures, housing systems, and establish an intranet. Nowadays, we’re finding solutions that are easier on the expenses through cloud programs. Companies will keep some in-house infrastructures, but also test out the effectiveness of cloud based solutions.

The main forces behind the development of this industry are cost effectiveness of the solutions, degree of governance over the data, and speed of change with business needs. Almost all cloud solutions will diminish the need for data warehousing, thus decreasing expenditures for storage and employees. As well, switching costs are lower because migration is easy and there are no legacy systems to convert.

Although, there are many positives to cloud computing, there will still be things that only having an internal IT infrastructure can offer. Control, maintenance, and security with data are critical issues which can cause strain on companies if not properly managed or regulated. With this in mind, hybrid IT is currently the best strategy as it is the safest way to get the best of both worlds.

As we see the cloud market mature and become less volatile, we will have steadier dependence on this technology. For now, we can see that the market is still growing with more adopters coming on board. Take advantage of the opportunity now to pilot some innovative solutions!
